I just got The Sims 3 and my first experience wasn’t that good. First of all I think I will have to upgrade my Laptop because I was lagging a bit. The worse thing I found while playing are the controls!! I was all over the place with it, I just HATE it!
I tried to do my self sim. It took me over an hour, and although I realized it didn’t look exactly like me, I decided to try her out. Well she .. eh, I, am ugly. My resolution in the game must have been wrong because looking at these shots I look like a horse. I have a thin face, but I overdid it.
Darn that Sim looks extremely ugly, lol. Anyway, I have a headache after playing for a couple of hours, especially because of the controls.
This one made me laugh when she almost chocked on her salad. Weirdly that shot looks more like me, lol.
I hate those zzz’s. I noticed that Modthesims already has a mod that takes them out. When I told her to go to bed she stood besides the bed and it took like 10 sim seconds for her to finally decide to go to bed!! And the speed is way too slow even on ultra high speed.
I then went into a different house with a Maxis made Sim. Her name is Meadow I think. I don't’ know why but she looked a lot fatter and butch while I was in the game. Like I said, it must be my resolution. I find it way too cartoony. Maybe if I upgrade my graphic card it will be better?
I hate those noses. I hate the wide eyebrows. I miss custom skintones and eyes. lol
I am wondering if most of the Sims 3 was done by England?
She had a guitar in her personal inventory and she pulled it out and started playing. I found that pretty cool.
I’m not crazy about the looks of the kids in The Sims 3. Sims 2 has better looking kids. They are cartoonish. Maybe custom contents will help. Or maybe it’s just my graphic card. But I am not crazy about Sims 3 as I thought I would be. And the controls…… arghhhhh…………. !!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteFirst off, it doesn't have the crisp shots Sims 2 has, which is ironic, considering EA did it for it to look more realistic.
Second, it is hard to get close up shots of the sims, unless you tilt it, and following is too slow. I set it to the highest speed, and it was worse than normal speed in Sims 2.
Three, they look ugly! They look like puffed up Sims 2 versions, and are too cartoony, and TacyP said it was similar to Sims (I wouldn't know, I've only played the Sims 2, and just started 2007).
I went into Riverview and tried to play the Joy family, but I got tired b/c it was too slow. So, I visited the Bachelors to see Bella, and I got bored.
MTS already have some downloads for Sims 3, but unfortunately no skins. I've put all the settings on high, and I still don't like how it looks...I'm playing on my tablet, and there's no way I can get an upgrade...too expensive.
I checked my PC requirement on their sites and it says I should upgrade my RAM and video card. I don't have the money right now though. We're moving at the end of the month.

I don't know if you've ever played any Sim Tycoon games, but the Sim people reminds me more of those they added on the Sims 3.

Even the way they walk, their postures and slowness.
I was like you, I found it way too slow and got bored. Usually I watch them do everything, but I found myself glancing at the TV a lot. My anxiety was going up.
And yes, like puffed up Sims 2 and too cartoony. I did play the Sims, and I have to agree with TacyP. They degraded the game where graphics are concerned. I wonder if they did it so it would play faster because they added a lot more interactions instead, like visiting neighbors etc.
I only went in Riverview so far, only in two houses. I might try it again tonight. But who knows, I might just go play with Sims 2 instead, lol.
You're lucky that you can put it all on high, I can't because it makes the game go too slow. But what is bad about it, is that you could put it on high, and still you don't like the way it looks. I thought maybe if I upgraded that it would be way better. :(

ReplyDeleteI updated my drivers, and rechecked the settings, and downloaded the latest DivX, and I love it! Their eyes are still glazed over, which is happening to most everyone who doesn't have a high end computer, and even though it's ultra slow, I'm enjoying playing, even without cc.

I have played once after that for a little bit. I certainly need a video card update and some RAM, but that won't happen right away because, like I said, we just bought a house, so I can't afford it right now.

Yep, as Xyleh said, I was and am still a bit disappointed in their appearances, but ModTheSims does have some custom skins I saw the other day, maybe that will help a bit. I never liked the cartoony way any maxis sims looked anyway. And they all tend to look better in CAS, even with a great graphics card. It took me a bit to figure out how the game could run well and on which settings would be the best, you'll figure it out for your computer too. I'm used to playing in windowed mode, so it didn't take that much getting used to controling the game, but it is harder to get good pictures, and the camera mode is all over the place. I imagine the slower FF is because the whole neighborhood is progressing, not just the family asleep at the active house. Just what I assumed, anyway. I still think the plusses are better than the negatives, it just takes some getting used to. It's fun, it's just different. And your commentary on your sim self cracked me up! :)
ReplyDeleteI did notice that someone made skins, but didn't see anyone use them in their game yet. I don't think I could play in windowed mode and have a browser opened, because I need RAM. I tried playing again last night, but way too slow. I started getting a headache instead of enjoying it, hehe.. In the meantime I am going to play Sims 2 and watch others that have Sims 3, until I get RAM and upgrade my video card.

The Sims 3 is so much better than the Sims 2! They look a lot realistic now, and I think all the Sims 2 people look the same. You can really customize how the Sim will look in the Sims 3, whereas, the Sims 2 graphics aren't that great. That is, unless you use custom content. I don't like how the Sims 3 lacks in hair, clothes and furniture! They are making us pay for it! Don't worry, you will get used to it and come to appreciate the Sims 3 even more and more.
ReplyDeleteI added RAM on my laptop, although it's not lagging much now, I still don't like it because of the graphics. I can't upgrade the video card on my laptop, I was told by a tech. :(
ReplyDeleteSo in the meantime I have to settle playing Sims 2, although I still don't mind it.
I'm hoping that while I wait for a better computer that some awesome CC for the Sims 3 will be made. Like skin, Hair, Make up and Clothes. Hopefully some are still offering that for free.
Yall are crazy beacause i LOVE !!!!! sim3 and it is the best game EVER. Especially since Sims3 world adventures is coming its even better.I bet yalls computers need help or yall are just BLIND........maybe you should GET SOME HELP!!!
ReplyDeleteMy problem with Sims 3 is definately more because my computer is too old for the game. I will have to wait until I can afford to buy a better computer to play it. Glad that you enjoy it HAHA. Hope I will one day soon.
